Terms of Service

Terms for tackle consultations, equipment matching and any related product or service order agreed with North Sound Tackle.

Last updated: 22 September 2026

1. Business details and scope

These terms apply to services provided by John Macmillan (Fishing), Address: Isle Of South Uist, Authorised representative: Callum Whitmore, VAT ID: GB 596632594, telephone +44 7988 363178, email [email protected]. North Sound Tackle is the trading brand used for practical boat-fishing tackle and equipment advice.

The service can include remote consultation, equipment matching, written shortlists and practical deck-organisation recommendations. Boat operation, navigation, guiding, fisheries enforcement, medical advice and food-safety certification are outside the service.

2. Enquiries and formation of a contract

Submitting an enquiry does not by itself create an obligation to purchase. We may ask for additional information so that the requested work can be scoped properly. A contract is formed when the service, price and any important limitations have been confirmed and accepted through the agreed communication channel.

3. Prices and payment

Prices shown for consultation packages are current guide prices and may be updated. Any price specific to your request will be confirmed before payment is due. Where products are sourced or recommended, product price, delivery cost and availability are confirmed separately because stock and manufacturer pricing can change.

4. Equipment recommendations

Recommendations are based on the information supplied about fishing method, boat type, target species, depth, venue and existing tackle. You remain responsible for checking manufacturer specifications, local fishing rules, vessel requirements and whether a product is appropriate for your own use. No recommendation guarantees a catch or a particular fishing result.

5. Consumer rights and cancellations

Nothing in these terms removes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer and a statutory cancellation right applies to a distance service, information about that right and any relevant time limit will be provided as required. If you ask for a service to begin during a cancellation period, the consequences of doing so will be explained where applicable.

6. Delivery of consultation work

Consultation timing depends on the completeness of the information supplied and the agreed scope. If an expected response or delivery time materially changes, we will provide an updated estimate. You are responsible for providing accurate contact details and responding to reasonable questions needed to complete the work.

7. Liability

We do not exclude liability where it would be unlawful to do so. Subject to those limits, we are not responsible for losses caused by inaccurate or incomplete information supplied by the customer, use of equipment outside manufacturer limits, failure to follow local fishing or vessel rules, or decisions outside the stated scope of the consultation.

8. Force majeure

Neither party is responsible for delay caused by events outside reasonable control, such as major communications outages, transport disruption, extreme weather, supplier failure or other events that could not reasonably be prevented. The affected party should take reasonable steps to reduce the impact and resume performance when possible.

9. Changes

These terms may be updated to reflect changes in the service, law or business arrangements. The terms that apply to a particular confirmed order or consultation are the terms accepted for that transaction unless a change is required by law or agreed with you.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law applicable to the business location in Scotland, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. Disputes should first be raised using the contact details above so that the issue can be reviewed directly.
